Submitting or Checking a Claim

  • You should file the claims as soon as possible, but within 90 days of the date of incident (lost/stolen/damage/ accidental damage/malfunction).

    For lost or stolen devices, log in to My Account to suspend your service and protect against unauthorized use. To file a claim, visit our Submit a Claim page. For Apple customers enrolled in Device Protection+ with AppleCare service, visit  getsupport.apple.com  for repair options. Information to have handy:
    • Your UScellular® phone number
    • Credit card for deductible or service fee
    • Device manufacturer, make, model
    • Date and cause of loss/damage
  • You should file the claim as soon as possible, but within 90 days of the date of incident (lost/stolen/damage/ accidental damage/malfunction).
  • A nonrefundable deductible or service fee is based on your device tier. To find the deductible or service fee by device, go to asurion.com/claims/uscellular. You’ll be charged when your claim is approved, and you can pay by credit or debit card.
  • Once your claim is approved, your replacement device will be shipped via next-business-day delivery, when available, at no additional cost to you.

    Approved claims for customers enrolled in Device Protection+ Ultimate may have options for as soon as same day delivery, based on location, delivery expert and replacement device eligibility.
  • If it’s available, the replacement device will be the same make/model listed in your claim. If unavailable, a comparable make/model will be substituted. Replacement devices may be new or refurbished of the same or a like kind and quality model. Phone color, brand, model and features may be different. Compatibility of accessories is not guaranteed.
  • We’ll send you a prepaid shipping label along with a shipping kit . Your damaged or malfunctioning device must be returned within 10 days of receiving the shipping kit.

    A non-return charge of up to $1,500 may be billed to the credit card that was provided for failure to return your original device.

Learning About Device Protection+

  • With Device Protection+, you'll have peace of mind knowing your device is protected . Should the unexpected happen to your device, you can get back up and running quickly while avoiding costly replacements.
  • Device Protection+ covers your device in the event of:
    • Loss
    • Theft
    • Damage
    • Accidental damage from handling (drops, spills, and cracked screens)
    • Mechanical/electrical malfunction after the manufacturer's warranty expires
  • Enroll in Device Protection+ when you add a device to your account or when you upgrade to a new device.
    Within the first 30 days of activating your device, you have options on how to enroll:
    • Log in to My Account.
    • Contact us or call us directly by dialing 611.
    • Visit us in-store.
    If you're bringing your own device to UScellular, contact us or visit us in-store
  • Depending on your claim, the following may be covered:
    • Phone: Includes the device and, if part of the claim, standard battery (if removable), standard battery charger, and SIM card.
    • Tablet: Includes tablet and, if part of the loss, standard battery and SIM card.
    • For customers enrolled in Device Protection+ with AppleCare Services, you can file a stand-alone claim for an Apple-branded iPad keyboard and Apple Pencil that is used with a covered iPad.
  • No, as soon as same day cracked screen repair is available for eligible devices in select areas for Device Protection+ Ultimate and Device Protection+ with AppleCare Services customers. Same day repair option depends on claim approval time, location, parts availability and technician availability.
  • No, as soon as same day screen malfunction repair is available for eligible devices in select areas for Device Protection+ Ultimate customers. Same day repair option depends on claim approval time, location, parts availability and technician availability.

  • Once your claim is approved for repair, the available repair options will be provided and may include:
    • Taking your device to a local repair location
    • Having a technician come to you
    • Mailing your device in for repair.
    Repair options are all subject to parts, location, and technician availability.
  • If you are enrolled in Device Protection+ Ultimate, you can file an unlimited number of battery replacement claims after the manufacturer's warranty expires for a device that powers on buts fails to hold an adequate charge after diagnostic testing.

    Battery replacement is for eligible devices and subject to technician and parts availability.

    Note: Battery replacement is not provided as a benefit of the Device Protection+ Basic or Device Protection+ Standard.
  • If you’re enrolled in Device Protection+ Ultimate and your device is eligible for battery replacement, once your claim is approved, the claims expert will let you know of the options available. Options may include:
    • Taking your device to a local repair location
    • Having a technician come to you
    Repair options are all subject to parts, location and technician availability.
  • If you’re enrolled in Device Protection+ Ultimate, same day expert delivery and device set up will be available for eligible devices, if your claim is approved by 4 p.m. CT. Same day delivery for eligible devices is also subject to location and replacement device availability.
  • Once your claim has been approved, if same day replacement and set up is available, this option will show if you filed your claim using asurion.com/claims/uscellular. If an agent is assisting you with your claim, the agent will confirm if the option is available once the claim is approved
  • Check out device setup guides, run performance checkups, or back up your photos in the easy-to-use portal at asurion.com/claims/uscellular. All you have to do is sign in or create a new account to get started.
  • A partial list of exclusions includes losses caused or resulting from abuse; misuse; fire; service performed by anyone not authorized by the Provider or Administrator (including any contracted third- party providers); intentional damage; acts of God or recall.

    Refer to program terms and conditions for a full list of exclusions and limitations.
  • Even the best manufacturer's warranty may not protect your device in the event of accidental damage from handling, loss or theft.
  • Device Protection+ Ultimate, Device Protection+ with AppleCare Services, Device Protection+ Standard and Device Protection+ Basic are a combination of insurance and service contracts. The insurance is underwritten by Allianz Global Risk US Insurance Company; Asurion Insurance Services, Inc. (In California, Agent License #0B35141; in Iowa, Agent License #1001000131) is the Agent and provides the claims servicing under these programs. The service contract is provided by Asurion Technology Services, Inc., or one of its affiliates.

    If you are enrolled in Device Protection+ with AppleCare Services, your service contract claims will be administered by AppleCare Services Company, Inc. for the first 24 months. Asurion Technology Services, Inc. will administer all claims not administered by AppleCare Services Company, Inc. which are subject to the Asurion Administration claim service fees.

Costs, Billing, and Cancellation

    • Device Protection+ Ultimate $14.99/mo.
    • Device Protection+ with AppleCare Services $15.99/mo.
    • Device Protection+ Standard $9.99/mo.
    • Device Protection+ Basic $6.99/mo.
  • No. The cost of Device Protection+ is billed to your wireless bill on a monthly basis and will renew month-to-month unless canceled. Non-payment of your wireless bill will result in cancelation.
  • For your convenience, the Device Protection+ monthly charge, plus any applicable taxes, will appear as an individual line item on your UScellular bill.
  • To change your Device Protection+ plan, log in to My Account and, under the Account menu, choose Devices & Plans. Click on Plans to see your current coverage for device protection. Select "Manage Device Protection+" to see the protection plans available for your device.

    If you're not currently enrolled with Device Protection+, you can select "Choose a Plan" to see available protection plans for your device:
    • within 30 days of activating a new device on a new line
    • when you upgrade to a new device
    • during open enrollment periods (you'll see a notification on your Plans page in My Account)

    Device Protection+ plans continue monthly until canceled.
  • You may cancel your Device Protection+ plan at any time. However, once your plan is canceled, you won't be covered for any loss or damage to your device.

    If you decide to cancel, you may do so by logging in to My Account and, under Account menu, choosing Devices & Plans. Then, select the Plans option to see your coverage for Device Protection+. Click on Manage Device Protection+ and you'll see the option to cancel.

    You will receive a refund and/or credit, if any, of your unearned premium within the applicable time frame required by law.

Device Protection+ with AppleCare Services

  • With Device Protection+ with AppleCare Services* you get service- and support from the people who know your Apple device best. Once you enroll your eligible iPhone or iPad in Device Protection+ with AppleCare Services, you can enjoy the following coverage through Apple:
    • 24/7 priority access to award-winning technical support via chat or phone
    • Software support for iOS, iCloud, and Apple-branded iOS apps
    • Mechanical and electrical failure coverage for your iPhone or iPad
    • Keyboard and pencil coverage for tablets
    • Apple-certified repair or replacement with Express Replacement Service
    • Service at Apple Stores and Apple Authorized Service Providers
    • Service Fees: For iPhone: $29 for each cracked screen or back glass repair (for eligible devices only), or $99 replacement for any other accidental damage from handling (ADH) claim. For iPad: $49 replacement for each ADH claim

    * For the first 24 months, Apple administration will cover the first two ADH claims, including crack screen repair and back glass repair for eligible iPhone devices, and all malfunction claims. Maximum of two (2) ADH claims in a consecutive 12-month period and unlimited malfunction claims. After the 24-month period you automatically move to the Device Protection+ Ultimate Program at $14.99/mo, with different service fees and without AppleCare Services. Asurion will administer all claims not administered by Apple.
  • With AppleCare Services, you get service and support directly from Apple if your device requires repair or you need technical support assistance. For mechanical, electrical, or accidental damage from handling (ADH) failures, including screen repair and back glass repair, and 24/7 priority access to Apple experts, contact Apple through one of the following:

    For all lost or stolen claims, please go to asurion.com/claims/uscellular  for claim support.
  • For Device Protection+ with AppleCare Services customers only, back glass repair may be available for eligible iPhone devices under ACS Administration. Repairs may use new or refurbished parts, and may contain original or non-original manufacturer parts, and may void the manufacturer warranty.

DEVICE PROTECTION+ (FOR ASSURANT CUSTOMERS)

Securing Your Personal Information

  • As a Device Protection+ customer, you'll have access to enhanced features in the UScellular Protect powered by Pocket Geek® app that will assist you in protecting your valuable data. To receive access to these features, you need to:
    • Be an active Device Protection+ customer
    • Download the UScellular Protect powered by Pocket Geek® app onto your phone or tablet and register.
  • Once you download and register on the UScellular Protect powered by Pocket Geek® app, you'll receive access to the following features that will help secure your personal information:
    • Antivirus (Android customers only): Software that safeguards your device and personal info from potential hackers and other threats.
    • Locate, Alert, Lock & Wipe (Android customers only): If your device is lost or stolen, the app will help find and remotely lock it, sound an alarm, or wipe all sensitive data.
    • Secure Backup: You can back up 100GB of content for Device Protection+ Advanced Plans and 20GB for Device Protection+ Standard Plans.

Solving Technical Issues

  • If you are an iPhone or iPad customer enrolled in Device Protection+ Advanced with AppleCare Services, you can get direct access to AppleCare award-winning technical support via chat or phone. Simply visit getsupport.apple.com or call 800-275-2273 (800-APLCARE).

    iOS and Android customers enrolled in Device Protection+ Advanced also have access to Tech Support+ by tapping "LIVE HELP" in the UScellular Protect powered by Pocket Geek® app.
  • You have to be an active Device Protection+ customer and must download and register the UScellular Protect powered by Pocket Geek® app. In the app, tap "LIVE HELP" to call or chat with a Tech Support+ representative.

    Tech Support+ live help is available Monday-Sunday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. ET. Tech Support+ is provided by Assurant and is not an insurance product or service contract, and is part of Device Protection+.

Optimizing Device Performance

  • Once you download and register the UScellular Protect powered by Pocket Geek® app, you'll enjoy the following features that optimize the performance of your device:
    • Performance Monitoring and Troubleshooting - Run diagnostics to monitor the performance of your device and solve small issues before they become big ones.
    • Geek Tools℠ - See the performance state of your device and get troubleshooting suggestions for common issues.
    • Data Monitoring - Help prevent data overages.
    • Battery Forecast and Boost - Monitor battery life and boost performance.
    • Storage Manager - Maximize your available storage.
    • Geek Tips® - Receive useful, device-specific information, including "how-to" tips and tricks.

    These benefits are provided to all UScellular customers at no additional cost
  • Find Geek Tools℠ in the UScellular Protect powered by Pocket Geek® app by selecting the "More" icon on the app's main screen. Once there, you'll be able to see the performance state of your device based on various elements such as battery life, storage and speed connection.

    Geek Tools℠ will provide you with troubleshooting suggestions to help resolve any issue that may be slowing you down and ultimately optimize your device's overall performance.
  • Find Geek Tips® in the UScellular® Protect powered by Pocket Geek® app by selecting the "light bulb" icon on the app's main screen. Once there, you'll see daily tech tips to help you get more out of your device.

    You will also receive daily Geek Tips® notifications to help you master the many features in your device.
  • As soon as you log in to the UScellular® Protect powered by Pocket Geek® app, you'll be prompted with any immediate action that you should take to optimize and improve your device's performance.

    You may also go directly to the troubleshooting feature by selecting the "question mark" icon in the app's main screen. Thanks to this feature, you'll become a pro at resolving tech issues that may be slowing you down.

Monitoring Your Credit

  • If you're an iOS or Android customer enrolled in Device Protection+ Advanced you can rest assured knowing that you have access to 90 days of Credit Monitoring upon a loss or theft claim approval. We'll alert you if there's any suspicious activity on your accounts and help keep your personal information, personal.

    Credit Monitoring is not an insurance product or service contract and is part of Device Protection+. To be eligible for Credit Monitoring, customers must be 18 and older.
    • Up to 90 days of credit monitoring from one bureau
    • Alerts provided for new inquiries, address changes, etc.
  • Eligible customers will be alerted at time of claim about the benefit, and advised that they will receive information, via email, on how to register/activate the benefit. The 90-Day period begins one day after your replacement device is shipped. If there is credit activity, customers can access online FAQs by visiting assurantmonitormycredit.com or calling 800-825-7161 90-Day Credit Monitoring is not an insurance product or service contract and is part of Device Protection+.
