OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (Oct. 4, 2016) — U.S. Cellular will host a basketball shooting clinic featuring Oklahoma City Thunder player, Victor Oladipo, on Oct. 8 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the U.S. Cellular store at 1609 Penn Park Blvd., to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Oklahoma County. The first 20 kids to show up for the event will have the opportunity to join 20 kids from the Club to participate in the basketball shooting clinic with Oladipo from 3 to 4 p.m. U.S. Cellular will donate $1,500 to the club and guests will have the opportunity to increase the donation by $1 for every free throw made.

The U.S. Cellular store on Penn Park Blvd. is a new retail location for the company, and the South OKC Chamber of Commerce will be present to celebrate the store's grand opening on Oct. 8 as well.

"U.S. Cellular is excited to spend time with these children and have the opportunity to give back to such a great organization as the Boys & Girls Clubs of Oklahoma County," said Jeff Heeley, director of sales, corporate-owned channel for U.S. Cellular in Oklahoma. "We are committed to the Oklahoma City community and supporting our youth."

Following the basketball clinic, guests will have the opportunity to attempt free throws from 4 to 6 pm to increase the donation to the Boys & Girls Club of Oklahoma County. Each made basket will give another $1 each to the Club, up to an additional $1,000. "I'm really looking forward to getting into the Oklahoma City community to do what I can to help support kids throughout the city," said Victor Oladipo, Oklahoma City Thunder guard. "This event itself will be a fun way for everyone to come together and raise money for the Boys & Girls Club."

In addition to the clinic with Oladipo and the opportunity to support Boys & Girls Club of Oklahoma County, attendees can also expect the full Thunder experience as Rumble, Storm Chasers, the Thunder Drumline and Thunder Girls will all be present to help build excitement.

"Community support from organizations such as U.S. Cellular and the Oklahoma City Thunder sends an important message to our youth," said Jane Sutter, president and CEO, Boys & Girls Club of Oklahoma County. "An investment in the children and teens we serve is an investment in our community's future."

U.S. Cellular is committed to helping advance STEM educational programs through its nationwide support of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. This year, U.S. Cellular donated $1 million to Boys & Girls Clubs across the country, with $65,000 going to clubs in Oklahoma. For more information, visit
